The longest fight of the night belonged to Alexei Semenov and Andre Roy.  The two had matching roughings called against them, hopped out of the box, and dropped the gloves shortly after Semenov had a quick shot on goal.  Punches were thrown, it didn’t look too different from most fights… but somehow roughings were called again.

It’s common that someone will write to me, asking me why majors were called after two players shed the gloves, never throw a real punch and somehow are given fighting majors.  It’s rare I hear the opposite, but last night provided just that.

There were two other fights (that were called fights) last night, a bit light considering there were 11 games played.
